Proverbs 10:25; 14:32; 28:1
Intro.: Sometimes our common sources of confidence let us down.
Prop.: By way of three analogies in the Book of Proverbs, Solomon clarifies how godly confidence contributes to Christian character:
1) Godly confidence contributes toward a firm foundation (10:25).
a) A person must profess faith in God (Matt. 16:18).
b) A person must practice the Word of God (Matt. 7:24-27).
c) A person must be pure before God (2 Tim. 2:19).
d) A person must be patient with God (Ps. 37:9).
2) Godly confidence contributes toward a focused concentration (28:1).
a) By spending time in meditation (Dan. 6:10-11).
b) By spending time with the Master (Acts 4:13).
c) By spending time in ministry (Acts 14:3).
3) Godly confidence contributes toward a final salvation (14:32):
a) In spite of distress.
b) In spite of destruction.
c) In spite of death.
d) Because of God's defense.
e) Because of our devotion.
Conc.: If you believe what you have learned today, you can live with greater confidence.
