Most people don't want to face death. The
Bible says all must die (Heb. 9:27). For the Christian, death has a four-fold
meaning:
- Prepared death: Prepared to meet God and be in heaven.
- Peaceful death: We have no fear of the future.
- Profitable death: We will be with God forever.
- Precious death: God welcomes His children home.
- The paradox of death
- Death brings sorrow, yet we know our loved one is with
God.
- Death creates loneliness, but God comforts, filling the
empty place with His presence.
- Death creates misunderstanding, yet we know that God
does everything well.
- Death creates pain, but God heals the broken heart.
- Death cannot destroy memory. Cherish those good memories.
Keep them alive.
- The promise in death
- The house (2 Cor. 5:1). The body is just the house in
which the soul lived.
- The help (Ps. 23:4). No fear because Christ is in us.
- The hope (1 John 3:2). See Christ and be like Him.
- The happiness (John 14:13). The promise of heaven.
- The pleasure in death
- Conversion (2 Cor. 5:8). The soul being absent from the
Lord, means being present with God.
- Comfort (Rev. 21:4). The "no more's" of heaven:
- No more tears
- No more death
- No more sorrow
- No more pain
- No more darkness
- The provision in death
- Promise (Deut. 33:27). Under us are His everlasting arms
to help and comfort.
- Power (John 11:25, 26). Though the body dies, the soul
lives eternally.
- Peace (Matt. 5:4). Those who mourn will be comforted.
- The preparation in death
- Surety of death (Heb. 9:27). All must die! Salvation
before death. Three steps, as simple as ABC:
- Admit you are a sinner (Rom. 3:23, Is. 53:6).
- Believe in Christ (Acts 16:31, Rom. 10:9, 10).
- Confess your sins (1 John 1:9, Ps. 103:3).
Conclusion:
Death comes suddenly (Prov. 27:1). It could be by accident
or a heart attack. Because it comes so suddenly, we need to be ready at all
times. Note: NOW is the day of salvation (2 Cor. 6:2). How do you prepare? It
is simple: believe in the Lord (John 3:16). Prepare TODAY!
